Rescue Me ID: 14-04-08-00070Rox (male)

Bernese Mountain Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rox's markings are strikingly beautiful and typical of his unusual breed. He is grown, size-wise, but still very much a puppy at heart...rambunctious, playful and exuberantly affectionate. Still, he listens well and is very motivated to please. That characteristic, plus his intelligence, makes him a very trainable dog, but he will need to be in a home with an experienced dog-owner who knows how to be 'leader of the pack', because if no one else claims that position, Rox will gladly fill it! He has a few special friends, but tends to get a little territorial with other dogs, and he hasn't decided yet whether or not he's fond of cats. Rox ... (Read More)will do best as an only pet. He is definitely a people dog with a sweet, affectionate personality. He loves all people and is very liberal with kisses. He would love an active life followed by falling asleep at the foot of his special person's chair. He's waiting anxiously to see who that special person will be. Adoption Application at: (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-02-00302Rox (male)

Bernese Mountain Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rox is actually an entlebucher mountain dog, which is a smaller, more energetic version of the Swiss and Bermese mountain dogs. Rox is a beautiful dog and loves people of all ages. However, he would be best for an only dog home, or possibly a female dog, depending on the meet and greet. Rox should not be with cats. Rox is very energetic and can easily soar over a 5' fence with little effort. He would be a great dog for anyone is interested in obedience or agility. He is a highly intelligent dog and will make an incredible family pet for an active family who has experience with independent breeds of dogs and knows how to be the pack ... (Read More)leader. Rox absolutely loves people. He has been returned to our facility three times. The first time, the new owner did not want to work with his issue of jumping fences; the second time, the family had a male mountain dog and Rox did not get along him and just recently, Rox showed some prey drive toward their indoor cat. Rox needs a home in which people understand that when you rescue a dog, you can't just give them a day or two to adjust. They need at least a month to settle in to their new home and learn the boundaries. Please consider Rox if you are looking for a mountain dog. He will love you forever. $80.00 adoption fee includes neuter, all vaccinations, worming, heartworm test (negative) and monthly heartworm preventative while at our facility and micro chip. (Less)
